Liquid’s Managing Director, Matt Holmes has been invited to speak at the Inside Cloud Computing event held by Sheffield Hallam University on March 2nd.

As a former student of Sheffield Hallam and now Chair of BASDA’s (British Application Software Development Association) Cloud Computing Special Interests Group, and member of the Governing Body of the Cloud Industry Forum, Matt Holmes returns to the university to share his knowledge about ‘Cloud Computing today’.  Matt will be presenting ‘in the cloud’ via Prezi.com.

‘It’s really exciting that Sheffield Hallam have recognised the potential of cloud computing, are already offering cloud-based courses, and are talking about and promoting cloud to wider community.  And as an ex-student I’m proud to be able to support them in that.

‘At Liquid Accounts, we’ve seen a big shift in the last 6 months: Now everyone is talking about cloud, wants to know about cloud, and is starting to understand the potential of it:  Cloud computing will become the norm in the next few years.  And the fact is that most of us are already using cloud in our everyday lives without even realising it!  And therefore, it makes sense for both students and businesses to be educating themselves about it now.

‘Already, there are significant cost, time and efficiency savings that companies can make, particularly by using cloud accounting software like ours, using cloud for back-ups and file storage, general office software, and using blogging platforms to build their websites.’

Matt Holmes will be speaking alongside technology industry giants and Cloud pros including Nick Umney; a Cloud platform specialist, from Microsoft, Fraser Kyne from Citrix Systems UK and Andy Burton, Chairman of the Cloud Industry Forum.

The event is to be held at the Electric Works in Sheffield on Wednesday 2nd March 2011 at 9am till 5pm and is a great opportunity to find out about why everybody is talking about the Cloud and get some great advice from industry experts.

The free one-day event aims to address how moving to cloud could benefit your business and how to implement it within your business and includes topics on ‘How to move into the Cloud’ and ‘Driving Cloud adoption through transparency and standards’.
