Liquid Accounts’ MD, Matt Holmes features in the latest issue of Government Technology Magazine talking about the advantages and potential cost saving of cloud computing for public sector organisations. He was invited to write the article in his capacity as Chair of the Cloud Computing Special Interest Group for BASDA (the Business Application Software Developers’ Association). It is the lead article in volume 9.7 of the bi-monthly magazine published by PSI.
Matt said, “This is an interesting and very poignant issue for the public sector at the moment: In our current ‘age of austerity’ cloud computing offers the potential for great cost savings, reductions in resources and streamlining of out-dated processes. The private sector, particularly smaller businesses, has already embraced cloud as an antedote to the recession, whereas the public sector seems to be behind the curve and is only just becoming aware of the potential. However, being able to share data and information between large numbers of people in multiple locations whilst cutting costs on IT infrastructure , licensing, upgrades and maintenance makes complete sense for local and central government.”
The article can be read in full via the website – www.governmenttechnology.co.uk under the heading Cloud Computing: The potential and the implications or in the digital version of the magazine on the left hand side of the homepage.
