Liquid MD, Speaks to 50 Edinburgh Businesses about ‘2011: The Year of the Cloud?’

Matt Holmes, Liquid MD and Chair of the Cloud Computing Special Interest Group for BASDA is in Edinburgh this week speaking at a Breakfast Seminar organised by Liquid Accounting Partner, Springfords LLP.

The event at the Scotsman Hotel in central Edinburgh, organised by Carol Wright of Springfords, will explore

• Whether 2011 really does promise to be the ‘year of the cloud’,
• Why cloud computing is predicted to boost the EU economy over the next 5 years by £645 billion, with the UK and Germany as the biggest beneficiaries of this growth,
• And why Microsoft are reported to be spending £15million on promoting cloud in the UK in the next quarter alone

And will answer questions such as:

• What does this means for my business?
• Is the hype real?
• Why should you take an interest?
• What are the benefits?
• How does it apply to you?

Matt is known for being able to explain cloud technology in a non-technical way and for giving practical hints and tips and how small businesses can take advantage of cloud technology now in order to gain a competitive edge in business.

Carol said, ‘We have been using  Cloud technology in our business with success for some time now.  An example of some of the benefits we have found of using the Cloud are:

• our staff can work remotely at home with access to our internal systems which was particularly useful in the winter of 2010
• our clients have their own personal filing cabinet where they can store their accounts etc.. which means they can always find their accounts for the Bank!
• we offer an online accounting solution to clients with the help of Liquid which means we can help clients remotely with their bookkeeping issues

So we decided to invite Matt to Edinburgh to share his knowledge with our clients and contacts to help them understand what the Cloud is all about and how they could use Cloud technology in their own businesses.’

Following the seminar, Matt will also be training 6 of Springfords’ accountants on Liquid Accounts award-winning cloud accounting software so that they can offer support and training to their Liquid clients and become an ambassador for Liquid Accounts in Scotland.
